The Average Girl
The Average Girl was a narrative, the evolution into adulthood. I might even say a rite of passage if you will, from girl to woman.
As an artist writing is a cathartic experience. The environment or experience surrounding the artist is what determines what an album is about. Although there is always’ s that occasion that your write “a song” I find that the singer- songwriter usually writes a body or work. This was without a doubt my coming of age album. I am nostalgic when I listen to it along with excited about my next album. But most importantly, when I listen to it, it still brings me profound joy.
